Published annually since 2012, the Journal of Antarctic Affairs is one of Agenda Antártica's two principal intellectual contributions and one of the field's most sustained platforms for Antarctic scholarship. A bilingual, peer-reviewed publication co-edited with the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC), its twelve volumes have brought together researchers, scientists, diplomats and legal practitioners to advance collective understanding of a region unlike any other on Earth.

Each volume addresses the full breadth of Antarctic affairs — governance and international law, environmental protection and climate science, and the multilateral cooperation that has sustained the continent since the Antarctic Treaty entered into force in 1961. The Journal connects academic inquiry to real-world policy, and has done so consistently for more than a decade. It is one of two publications through which Agenda Antártica advances this mission — complemented by Antarctica as a Model for Global Peace, a companion volume offering a focused reflection on the Antarctic Treaty System as a transferable model of international cooperation and peace.

As a bilingual publication addressing both English- and Spanish-speaking audiences, the Journal plays a distinctive role in ensuring that Latin American research and perspectives are represented in the global Antarctic policy debate — reinforcing the region's voice in international forums such as the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting and CCAMLR.

"Antarctica is the only continent governed by an international agreement rather than by any single nation — a continent of science and cooperation. The Journal of Antarctic Affairs exists to document, analyse and strengthen that governance model, and to ensure that the knowledge driving it reaches the policymakers, scientists and citizens who need it most."
